No Man's Sky Adds Spooky Trading System and Debuts on iOS

Hello Games has shipped Forsaken, version 7.10 of its space exploration game No Man's Sky, introducing a Halloween-themed scavenging economy, new ship cockpits and a faster way to travel between nearby star systems. The free update, announced October 28th on X, also marks the game's official arrival on iOS devices.

A trading system built around risk

The update's centerpiece is a new type of merchant called forsaken traders, summoned at deep-space outposts. Rather than accepting standard currency, these traders deal exclusively in "mementos," unsettling biological samples that players recover from deep-space hulks, infested outposts, derelict freighters and planetary digsites. Hello Games calls the specimens "bizarre, horrifying biological samples" pulled from "the spookiest regions of the universe."

Harvesting them isn't free of consequence: lingering too long near the samples attracts hostile creatures the studio calls boundary horrors. Players who push through the risk can unlock a Larva Tank helmet, the Mind Harvester title, and eventually purchase a living Larva Cannon Multi-Tool by trading in preserved grubs. In exchange for mementos, traders also offer new corvette components, including cockpits, habitation modules and biomechanical hull parts, expanding how players can customize their ships.

Faster travel and a cleaner interface

Forsaken also changes how players move through space. Stars in neighboring systems now appear as selectable destinations directly from deep space, letting players warp to them without first opening the Galaxy Map, a small but practical shortcut for frequent travelers. A new minimal HUD option strips away the compass, hazard bars and mission alerts for players who prefer an uncluttered view, while a radial menu makes switching Multi-Tool modes quicker.

The update rounds out ship options with four new cockpit designs, named Vantage, Hornet, Viper and Mantis, along with new Legion-class corvette interiors. Additional features include space courier missions launched from deep-space outposts, Holo-Arena creature battles set in deep space, and the ability to upload off-planet bases to shared servers so other players can visit them.

No Man's Sky reaches mobile

Alongside Forsaken, Hello Games has launched the full game on iOS, a release first confirmed in a news post on October 12th. The studio says the mobile version includes an interface "built for touch from the ground up" and that its underlying engine has been adjusted to manage battery consumption and heat, aiming to support longer play sessions on phones and tablets. No pricing or device-compatibility details beyond this were provided in the announcement.

Forsaken arrives roughly a month after Cosmos, the 7.0 update released to mark No Man's Sky's tenth anniversary, which the studio said drew back "a huge number of Travellers old and new." Earlier in the year, Hello Games had also released the Xeno Arena creature-battle update and a separate update called The Swarm, continuing a pattern of frequent, free content additions since the game's 2016 launch.
